What is an Advocate Team?
An advocate team is a group of individuals (usually 5-10) who commit to care for one of our global workers (couple/family) and to serve as their advocates to the congregation.
Care: While there are many aspects to caring for a global worker, the primary one is praying, engaging in earnest prayer for them personally and for the fruitfulness of their work. This is accomplished as the team regularly meets together, and as team members pray consistently on their own for their worker.
Represent: Serving as advocates for a global worker means representing the worker and their work to the congregation, keeping the sense of connection fresh and strong between our church members and the worker. Practically, this might include bringing periodic updates about the worker to Sunday School classes and small groups or from time to time setting up a small display in the back of the church to highlight the worker’s country of service and ministry.
Advocate teams are also referred to as A-teams.
